Accessing

your community's information

should be easy.

Finding Public Information is a National Challenge.

While dedicated journalists do the vital work of reporting local news, residents are often left without access to the raw information shaping their communities. Important updates are buried in unsearchable PDFs on city websites, and by the time you learn about a development, public comment periods have often closed. This information gap makes civic participation too difficult for most people.

How LocAlmanac helps:

LocAlmanac is new civic infrastructure designed to complement the work of local media and empower residents. We are building a tool, not an outlet.

  • We aggregate public information from dozens of official sources—government websites, public calendars, and official notices—to create a comprehensive, structured database.

  • We use AI to analyze complex government documents, like meeting agendas and budgets, and provide you with plain-language summaries of what you need to know, without the jargon.

  • We structure this information to show you the relationships between people, organizations, events, and issues, helping you understand the full context and how decisions are made.

Learning in Wichita

To build a tool that truly serves communities, we're starting with a focused pilot. LocAlmanac is proud to launch its first beta in Wichita, KS, in early 2026. With support from the Wichita Foundation, the Knight Foundation’s PressForward initiative, and our platform partners at POPVOX, we'll work with local residents to create a replicable model that can be adapted for communities everywhere.
